My Story
I’m Greg. An artist and illustrator from Auckland, New Zealand.
I began my creative journey at Elam School of Fine Arts (majoring in painting) and followed on with a career in graphic design, which included 6-years living and working in London. After returning to NZ and reconnecting with people and places here, I felt a need to re-connect with my fine art roots. In 2010, I created a range of limited edition art prints where my signature kiwi flavour emerged and quickly gained momentum.
I was first inspired by my Elam tutor Dick Frizzell, back in the early 90's and it was then that I developed a strong sense of national pride and Kiwiana, which has remained in my work ever since. I illustrate that pride through my print ranges which touch on all corners of Aotearoa and show classic memories like summer roadies, riding bikes, surfing, and hanging out at the beach. Nostalgic and retro often featuring bright hues and simple geometric shapes.
Commercial illustration takes up much of my time these days having carved out a niche generating custom illustrations for high-profile brands including Chelsea, Bluebird, Tip-Top, Four Square, TVNZ and more. My work is showcased in murals, packaging, billboards and magazine covers as well as featuring in nationwide campaigns for many household brands.
Recently I've been inspired by different New Zealand locations and iconic beaches and am always developing new artworks adding to our open edition and limited edition print ranges.
